the challenge
The challenges of the project were:
- to find the best technical solution for reading the G forces generated by a driver while performing the following maneuvers: accelerate, brake, left turn, right turn.
- to find the solution to identify if a driver is using the phone while driving
- to build the solution taking into consideration a low-implementation budget and a very tight delivery calendar
the solution
The solution was to implement a hybrid mobile application to keep the implementation within budget and delivery calendar.
The application uses the accelerometer of the phone at the start of the trip to calibrate the phone position and afterwards to read the G forces generated on all three axes. When a new force is generated (accelerate, break, left turn, right turn) it calculates and displays the grade in real time.
Genuineq team also used the proximity sensor of the phone to identify if a driver uses its phone during a trip.
